It’s that time of year again – snow’s falling, carolers are out and Grammy noms have been released, including pianist John Burke whose album we reviewed back in June. Now, Burke is heading to Los Angeles to vie for the title of best new age album with “Orogen.”
Burke is “ecstatic” to take the trip to L.A. in February. “Ecstatic. Energized. Speechless! I mean, it’s so surreal. I worked like crazy to market the album, so it’s amazing to see this kind of result. I’m just so thankful to my fans.”
While Burke is excited just for the nomination, he’s also looking forward to the people he might meet on the red carpet:
“Oh man, I’d love to meet a film composer! Hans Zimmer, John Debney, Neal Acree, just to name a few. Especially John Williams. I want to get into film scoring, so I’d absolutely die to meet one of these talented fellas. Also, it’d be so cool to meet my fellow nominee, Enya.”
The nomination is just another reason 2017 can’t come soon enough. You’ll have to tune in on Feb. 12 to see if Burke wins, but in the meantime take a peek at some other noteworthy nominations this year, including Twenty One Pilots, who were nominated for 5 Grammy awards, including Record of the Year:
